Rain or shine, the British coast is one of the UK’s most popular choices for a staycation holiday.

But while Cornwall is generally one of the top choices for a British coastal break, there are a few more affordable choices.

According to the expert team at Independent Cottages, Talisker Bay on Scotland’s Isle of Skye is the best place for a British beach holiday in 2024.

A spokesperson said: “Everywhere on the Isle of Skye is breathtakingly beautiful. Nowhere is very far from the coast, which makes the tiny island a favourite for a seaside holiday.

“Talisker Bay is on the west coast, close to Carbost village, where the famous whiskey is brewed.

“The beach is just over a mile’s walk along a flat path from the car park. The unusual grey sand makes sense when you see the smooth rocks at the top, and there is a waterfall that cascades down the cliffs.”

Tenby in Wales was ranked as the second best place for a beach holiday in the UK. The Welsh seaside town has a range of accommodations to suit all budgets.

Wales took third place on the ranking as well with the Llyn Peninsula, close to Snowdonia National Park rounding off the top three.
