Veteran actor Sunil Lahri, renowned for his portrayal of Laxman in Ramanand Sagar’s legendary series, Ramayana, publicly expressed his disappointment following the BJP’s loss in the Faizabad seat during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Taking to his Instagram, Lahri shared a series of posts voicing his dismay, wherein he criticised Hindus for what he perceived as a lack of support for the BJP, which had spearheaded efforts to construct the Ram temple in Ayodhya. In now-deleted posts, Lahri further lamented how historical records illustrate the recurring betrayal by the residents of Ayodhya towards their rightful ruler. “Dhikkaar hai! (Shame on you!),” he exclaimed. Additionally, Lahri shared a renowned quote by Savarkar: “I am not afraid of Muslims, I am not afraid of Britishers, I am afraid of Hindus against Hinduism.”

For the unversed,  the official results of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 were declared on June 4, revealing a significant victory for the BJP with 240 seats. However, the party faced a notable setback with its loss in Faizabad (Ayodhya), where BJP’s Lallu Singh lost the election and the seat was won by Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc posed a formidable challenge, securing victory in 230 seats, highlighting a closely contested electoral battle.
