Greatest Hits launches retro music-themed cruise with celebrity hosts on board | Cruise | Travel

The popular radio station Greatest Hits Radio has announced it is hosting a cruise with several of its most famous presenters on board.

Partnering with Ambassador Cruise Lines, the Greatest Hits Radio Escape is a five-day trip in which guests will be joined by Ken Bruce, Martin Kemp, Jenny Powell and Kate Thornton.

Simon Kilby, Managing Director at Bauer Media Advertising, hopes that the cruise will help to encourage more music-lovers to tune in.

He explained: “This Greatest Hits Radio Escape cruise is one of the biggest and most ambitious partnerships we’ve done in recent years. The station is on a meteoric rise, and as we see more listeners coming to the station and wanting to engage with the brand, this collaboration with Ambassador Cruise Line felt like a natural progression and the perfect partnership.

“This combines the strong relationships our presenters have with their loyal listeners and our burgeoning commercial events portfolio and marries that with a brand and activity that we know our listeners also love.”

Taking place between October 27 and November 1, 2024, passengers will board the Ambassador Ambience from London Tilbury.

The five-day break will travel to Hamburg in Germany for a cruise along the River Elbe, one of the most expansive waterways in Western Europe.

Before returning to the UK, the ship will also visit Amsterdam, giving passengers the opportunity to soak up culture at the Van Gogh Museum and the house Anne Frank lived in or take in the sights with a walking tour.

The Greatest Hits Radio Escape will also feature two days at sea, with passengers able to attend a number of music-themed events with the presenters.

Ken Bruce will be holding a special version of his radio quiz show Pop Master, putting the guests knowledge on classic songs to the test.

Martin Kemp, Kate Thornton and Jenny Powell will also host DJ sets in the Observatory, a lounge at the front of the ship, and conduct Q&A sessions about their careers.

Prices for the Greatest Hits Radio Escape start at £559 per person for an inside cabin, featuring two beds that can be converted into a double, a bathroom with shower, fridge and television.

This price rises up to a maximum of £1,379 per person for a deluxe suite, giving guests a large balcony, additional sofabed, en-suite bath, a dressing area and two televisions.

Alternatively, hopeful guests can win a spot on the ship by entering the competition on the radio station’s website, with Ken Bruce calling winners on the air.
