The cheapest places to stay on a cruise are interior cabins, which are located in the middle of the ship and, as a result, do not feature a window.

Guests looking to spend a little more on their trip can buy an ocean view cabin, which features a porthole-style window, or a balcony cabin, allowing passengers to sit down in the fresh air.

However, tourists looking to book a cruise should also consider which deck their cabin is located on, with higher decks often fetching higher prices.

Typically, this is because many features of the ship, including the buffet and swimming pools, are located on one of the highest decks.

Nevertheless, passengers who are prone to getting seasick should avoid booking a cabin on a higher deck, which typically experiences more movement compared to other spaces on the ship.

Tourists looking for some peace and quiet were also advised to look for a cabin located on a middle deck, with tourists running the risk of hearing extra noise from events on the sundeck higher up on the ship, or from the engine and launderette towards the bottom of the vessel.

All guests should also consider which side of the ship their cabin is located on, with port and starboard sides both having their own advantages.

With cruise ships mostly docking on the port side, guests will be able to see more of the port from this half of the ship, whilst passengers on the starboard side offering a more uninterrupted view of the sea.
