When it comes to the great outdoors, the UK has some great sites on offer. Seeing as the weather is looking great (we’re holding our breath) and temperatures are the highest they’ve been all year.

Now could be the time to get outside and take part in a run. Ok, we know that is a hard bargain but hear us out as we know some of the most beautiful places to go for a run in the UK.

We’re not talking about doing a full Usain Bolt around the locations but even a brisk walk can make all the difference to not only your physical health but also your mental wellbeing.

Even better, many of them are through the National Trust so you can expect them to be well-maintained.

All the places featured are on the Parkrun UK website with a course route and map to follow. Let’s take a look at the locations more in detail.

Whinlatter Forest Park, Lake District

Set within the Lake District it doesn’t get better than this. Not only is Whinlatter Forest, England’s only mountain forest you can take in breathtaking views while you go for your run.

Let’s not forget there’s plenty of wildlife to see with birds, deer and squirrels all habitating there.

Wimpole Estate, Cambridgeshire

The historical site is part of the National Trust and we can see why. The route has been seen by Anglo-Saxons, Iron Age settlers, and early Romans just to name a few.

So get your running gear at the ready so you can take part in a weekly 5k community event, according to Parkrun UK.

The Eden Project, Cornwall

When you think of the Eden Project you think of greenery and domes home to world plants.

However, there is also a run which you can take part in and where you’ll end up finishing where there is a big bee outside.

Dulwich Park, London

You might be surprised to find a park from the capital on the list.

However, London has plenty of greenery and stunning parks on offer. For those who live south, you can run on smooth tarmac and even better anyone can join in.

Fountains Abbey, Yorkshire

Finally on our list is Fountains Abbey which is another UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Abbey itself has a Tripadvisor rating of 4.5 stars and has plenty of stunning running views to enjoy including Fountains Hall and St Mary’s Church.
